Historical Step for European Wrestling After a lot of work, we are happy to finally announce the first step of history in the making. The start of the Union Of European Wrestling Alliances (or UEWA for short), effectively starting july 1st. As the name says, UEWA is not yet another wrestling promotion but a union of some of the best european wrestling promotions who will work together closely in all their future endeavourments. Much like in the old school days, UEWA is divided into territories with one promotion representing each country. Only exception from the rule is England as the main country of european wrestling today. England will be represented by two promotions. All participating promotions have equal rights with more territories possibly joining in the near future. The following promotions are part of the UEWA at the day of its foundation: - All Star Wrestling (Stoke-On-Trent, England) - Catch Wrestling Norddeutschland (Norderstedt, Germany) - Danish Pro Wrestling (Midtjylland, Denmark) - Italian Championship Wrestling (Milan, Italy) - Premier British Wrestling (Glasgow, Scotland) - Riotgas Wrestling Alliance (Vienna, Austria) - Shooting Star Wrestling (Yorkshire, England) - World Wide Pro Wrestling (Tuggen, Switzerland) UEWA itself will not promote any shows but will sanction all events from its member promotions. The main goal of UEWA is to create a title with credibility which lives up to the name it carries unlike a lot of other titles in the business today. Thus said, we are happy to introduce the European Heavyweight Championship which is a joint venture of all promotions within the UEWA. The first European Heavyweight Champion will be crowned in a sixteen men tournament with the first round taking place in the UEWA member promotions and the winner’s advancing to a big one night tournament taking place in the spring of 2010 in a place yet to be determined to follow the footsteps of famous European wrestlers like Shirley “Big Daddy” Crabtree, Horst Hoffman, Johnny Kincaid and Pat Roach. Who exactly the participants in this tournament are will be announced in the upcoming weeks. As part of the agreement between all member promotions, the newly crowned European Heavyweight Champion is going to defend his title all over Europe in all our partner promotions to prove himself a real, fighting and worthy European Heavyweight Champion. More information regarding UEWA and all its member promotions can be found at www.uewa.eu

Participant 1/16: “Bad Bones” John Kay for CWN (Germany)
In spring of 2010 there will be one big eight man-one night tournament to crown the European Heavyweight Champion. Until then, it’s a long way as all partners of the UEWA now have the difficult task to nominate their representatives who then will go one on one in the first round to determine who is going to be in the tournament.
The first one’s to announce their first participant are Germany’s Catch Wrestling Norddeutschland. And their first choice is an obvious one: “Bad Bones” John Kay, the 25-year-old powerhouse out of Bitburg, Germany is the current German National Heavyweight Champion so obviously he is the best choice to represent his country.
The first spot is taken… fifteen spots are still available… the second participant will be nominated next week!
Nominees:
- #1 "Bad Bones" John Kay (CWN) - #2 - #16 still to come

Participant 2/16: Lupo for ICW (Italy)The second promotion to nominate a wrestler for the big 16 man European Heavyweight title tournament is Italian Championship Wrestling. Known for having a huge amount of self-produced star wrestlers in their roster, it comes to no surprise the first one to be nominated is a graduate of the accomplished ICW Academy. Lupo has been Italian tag team champion twice, as well as a three time inter-regional Italian champion. With four years of experience all over Europe, this Milan-native is a force to be reckoned with. Nominees:- #1 "Bad Bones" John Kay (Germany, CWN) - #2 Lupo (Italy, ICW) - #3- #16 still to come

Participant 3/16: “The Guv’nor” Martin Stone for PBW (Scotland) Following german powerhouse “Bad Bones” John Kay and Italy’s Lupo into the 16 man tournament for the European Heavyweight Champion is the first brit, nominated by scottish promotion Premier British Wrestling. Graced with a big pool of amazing talent, PBW nominated their current top challenger for their heavyweight title to represent them in the tournament The impressive London-based “Guv’nor” Martin Stone has been a mainstay in various wrestling promotions across Europe and is succeeding wherever he goes. Now Stones ultimate goal is to prove himself the European heavyweight champion. And he’s aiming for not less than that. Nominees:- #1 "Bad Bones" John Kay (Germany, CWN) - #2 Lupo (Italy, ICW) - #3 „The Guv’nor“ Martin Stone (England, PBW) - #4 - #16 still to come

Participant 4/16: “The Prodigy” Paul Malen for SSW (England) The fourth party to nominate a wrestler is Englands upstart promotion Shooting Star Wrestling. Having a well mixed roster there is one person who really sticks out and emerged to be the key player for this young group. “The Prodigy” Paul Malen has yet to wrestle outside of England and thus is widely unknown to fans outside of England – but the self-confident brit considers this not a weakness but his big chance as most of the other wrestlers in the tournament don’t know him – but he knows them. Paul Malen might not be the bookmaker’s favourite for winning the title; but he’s in the tournament to make a statement and to stir up the European wrestling scene. Nominees:- #1 "Bad Bones" John Kay (Germany, CWN) - #2 Lupo (Italy, ICW) - #3 „The Guv’nor“ Martin Stone (England, PBW) - #4 „The Prodigy” Paul Malen (England, SSW)

Starting out with eight promotions on july 1st, ever since then the UEWA has been approached by various promotions from all around Europe about the possibility of joining. Still being in negotiations with some promotions, we can now proudly announce to have come to terms with one promotion to make it a total of nine UEWA promotions at this time. Promoter Alan Ravenhill has been a protege of the legendary Orig Williams and continues his path of promoting shows, focussing on the local markets. While promoting Power Pro Wrestling, Alan Ravenhill has also been a local promoter for the welsh shows of LDN wrestling using the best welsh talent as well as talent from all over the United Kingdom. UEWA is proud to announce PPW as the ninth member, joining effectively august 1st. We at the UEWA are sure, PPW will make us proud and spread the UEWA-thought all over Wales. Thus saying, the following promotions are part of the UEWA at the day of this announcement: - All Star Wrestling (Birkenhead, England) - Catch Wrestling Norddeutschland (Norderstedt, Germany) - Danish Pro Wrestling (Midtjylland, Denmark) - Italian Championship Wrestling (Milan, Italy) - Premier British Wrestling (Glasgow, Scotland) - Pro Power Wrestling (Porthcawl, Wales)- Riotgas Wrestling Alliance (Vienna, Austria) - Shooting Star Wrestling (Yorkshire, England) - World Wide Pro Wrestling (Tuggen, Switzerland) As the tournament for the European Heavyweight Championship is already fully planned, PPW will not be part of the tournament itself. Winner of first round match, going to the finals for WWPW!
On August 28 in Häselgehr, Austria, WWPW held their qualifying matches for the European Heavyweight Championship tournament under “Beat The Clock” rules. While current WWPW champion ”The Hellvetic Warrior” Jamie Gardner was the better man in his contest with the aspiring Fritz Keller from Austria winning in 16:08 minutes to become WWPW’s first man in the tournament, “Rebel” Damon Brix defeated swiss hopeful Steve Allison to become WWPW’s second representative. Unfortunately for the big guy from Switzerland, Austria’s alp cowboy Damon Brix was a little faster in beating his opponent in 16:02 to not only win the “Beat The Clock” contest but also advancing to the one night tournament, eliminating Jamie Gardner in the first round.

Participant 10/16: Lionheart for PBW (Scotland)
September 18th, the current Scottish heavyweight champion Lionheart successfully defended his PBW championship against Brad Fusion. Still being the champ, it was an easy choice for Premier British Wrestling to nominate the dominating force in scottish wrestling for the tournament.

Both men will meet in the main event of PBW’s biggest show of the year, Maximum Impact 2009 on october 17th in Irvine, Scotland. But the Scottish championship is not the only prize up for graps, the winner will also qualify for the European Heavyweight Championship tournament.
